Love Heals

I want her to always be my baby. Today I woke up determined, energized, and ready to jump all hurdles. By 2 pm, my to do list tripled, my productivity was slowing, and I had had my fair share of unexpected learnings for the day. Leaving the office, my heart warmed knowing I would get to see my sweet girl. She is like my comfort blanket some days
Laying here now, we survived basketball practice, dinner, and bedtime, and I didn't want to leave her bed after snuggling her to sleep. She had fought a headache at practice and as I laid their I just couldn't help but realize how helpless you can feel sometimes as a parent, and how hard that is when we love our children so fiercely.
My Ainsley Jean, how do I keep you little, innocent, and snuggling me forever?

After pouring myself some lemon and cinnamon water, I laid in bed and opened my latest book. Reading wasn't doing the trick. I grabbed my hand lettering notebook and turned to my podcasts to just be present in the quiet. SuperSoul conversations was just what my night needed, but the tears it brought were filled with #allthefeels.

I have written a couple posts about love. I guess it is kind of one of those things I just really believe makes life better. And if Ainsley has taught me anything, it is that her love is greater than I could have ever imagined. There was no way I could have prepared myself for it. As I was laying there practicing my lettering [insert eye roll emoji] (I haven't exactly gotten even a slight bit better), I paused to listen to part of the conversation between Oprah and Maya Angelou on the podcast.

It was too good. The words being spoken reflected a lot of truth about the love I identify with, and especially how Ainsley's love heals me. It healed me through some of the darkest moments in my life. It heals me daily when I am down. The podcast was so good, I knew I needed to share it with you all.

Thanks for reading my blog! I hope that maybe, just even for a moment, it brought light or learning into your day. Check out the transcribed quotes from the podcast below, or click the links to listen to them yourself.

Maya Angelou: "Nobody but nobody makes it outta here alone. And that's how love heals. The love of the family, the love of the one person, can heal so it heals of the scars left, the wounds left by the larger society, a massive, powerful society."

Oprah: "What words do you turn to for comfort?"

Maya Angelou: "Love. And again... I think love is that condition in the human spirit that is so profound, that it allows us to forgive... it can be used for any good thing you can explain."
